How We Work

Helping the retail industry re-shape skills

Collaboration and partnerships are at the heart of how we work.

We were created by retailers and work directly with retailers to ensure the retail industry has a pipeline of robust talent and measures in place to ensure workforces are fit for the future.

Whilst objectives are often similar due to industry-wide pressures – increase engagement, motivation and performance, encourage progression and retention, or evolve and modernise skills profiles and capabilities – we take time to understand what your particular business needs, and what is right for your operating model.

what makes us special

Future-focused

We have a robust programme of research and insight gathering to ensure we know what’s top of the skills develop agenda for retailers. For us, the future is just as important as the now.

Charitable

Our profits are re-invested in our mission to create and enhance careers, and nurture the next generation of retail talent. Working with FRA Talent Lab means your investment lives on supporting young people to develop skills retailers need.

Cross Category

We work across the full retail sector in categories including fashion, home, general merchandise, food, electronics and beauty. Our programmes blend sector-wide themes with category-focused content and learning.

Outstanding

Excellence is central to our growth and reflected in our Outstanding Ofsted grade. We embed an continuous cycle of quality assurance and enhancement to ensure we offer the best experience and results.

Scalable and adaptable

Our offer is as suitable for start-ups as it is international retail groups. We work with you to understand your operating model and target audiences to plan the most effective programmes.

Group and individual focus

We design programmes taking both the full cohort and individual into account. We want everyone to walk out of our development experiences feeling like it was designed specifically for them.

Our process

  1. Discover

We get to know you and what you want to achieve. After initial discussions we pull together several approaches for you to consider.

  2. Design

Once the project scope and objectives are confirmed, we spend time getting to know your business whilst refining the programme design, content and activities.

  3. Deliver

A dedicated project manager oversees your programme, be that a one-day workshop, or 12-month integrated programme.

  4. Dissect

Our programmes don’t end on the last day of learning. We work with you to measure and understand the impact of learning and the return on investment for your business.

The pace of change in the industry requires the ability to react and innovate successfully.
